RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage recently opened up about her desire to compete on Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, Visage isn’t allowed to appear on the show for one very interesting reason — which she calls “not fair.”
Michelle Visage Isn’t Allowed on Dancing with the Stars
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Visage shared that she’s interested in competing on DWTS, but the show “won’t let me do it.” The reason for this is that she apparently made it too far on Strictly Come Dancing, which is the UK version of the show.
“I injured myself on Strictly and got voted off in week 10 or something like that,” Visage shared. “I’ve since had knee surgery. I beg them every year to do Dancing With the Stars, and they won’t let me. They’re like, ‘You got too far.’ I’m just like, ‘But I didn’t get to the semifinal. I didn’t win!'”
Interviewer Mikey O’Connell pointed out that her time on Strictly “seems like less of an edge than an Olympic gymnast or a pop star going in blind.” Visage agreed, pointing out how many DWTS contestants have previous dance experience.
“I say this all the time. I’m like, ‘Hold on a minute. Nicole Scherzinger is a Pussycat Doll. It’s a dance troupe,'” Visage said. “JoJo Siwa was on Dance Moms. That’s not fair. They’re actual dancers. I am not. So yeah, I would kill to do it in the States, but they’re not having it. I’m like, ‘Guys, please. I’m still a sh*tty dancer. Trust me.'”

The Show Is Gearing Up for Season 33
Dancing with the Stars is getting ready for Season 33 later this year. The new competition is expected to premiere in September, and co-host Alfonso Ribeiro has already been teasing the show’s return. Ribeiro posted about it last month.
Ribeiro posted a photo of himself soaking in a hot tub on Instagram. He captioned the picture, “This is where you go after rehearsal for a @dancingwiththestars promo shoot where you have to learn an entire dance. Wish me luck.”
We don’t yet know which celebrities will be stepping into the ballroom this season — or which pros will be back to dance with them. We’ll just have to wait until the official announcement later this year.
