Fox is developing Kazu Kibuishi’s young-adult graphic novel series “Amulet” as a movie with Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey producing.
The studio has acquired movie rights to “Amulet” from Scholastic, which has published six books since 2008 starting with “Book One: The Stonekeeper.” “Book Seven: Firelight” will be released in February.
The story centers on a young girl who moves with her younger brother and mother into their great-grandfather’s house after their father died. The locals believe the house is haunted and the family discovers a small door in the basement leading to an alternate world of demons, robots, elves and intelligent animals.
Temple Hill’s credits include the Twilight and Maze Runner franchises along with “The Fault in Our Stars.”
Sylvie Rabineau of RWSG negotiated the deal for Kibuishi, who is also repped by Judy Hansen of Hansen Literary Management and attorney Darren Trattner at Jackoway Tyerman. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
